Submissions

We accept all forms of poetry. We want poetry that tells us something new about ourselves, about the things and people around us, about our world. We are interested in poetry that nibbles at something in us, poetry that performs wonders with words. Please, submit 2-3 unpublished poems in doc or docx. Ensure you make your submission in one attachment. No simultaneous submission please.

We also accept reviews and essays on poetry. Please, send a logical, thought-provoking and well-articulated review or essay of 1000-1500 words in doc or docx.

Besides, we accept powerful art works and photographs that would make us appreciate the poetry in everything. Please, send an art work or photograph of high quality in JPEG

All works should be sent as an attachment to ijagunpoetryjournal@gmail.com. Please, indicate the type of submission and your surname in the subject line of your e-mail. Example: “Poetry – Adisa”. Besides, include your name(s) and contact information in your submission. We accept submissions on a rolling basis. However, ensure you get a reply on a work sent before you make another submission. We will try as much as possible to get back to you within 2-3 weeks of your submission. Ijagun is a small independent poetry journal. Please, be patient with us.

We are waiting to read your works; the world is waiting too!

Gone. In the candle of your eyes. I see a battle of wills. The disenfranchisement of your heart From the capable hands of your brain. Hitherto our love goes. Home away to those. With hardened heart against our passion. And a jaundiced eyes to our vision. Alas the mirror broke. And with it my heart goes. Home away it goes. Never to return to you my love.

I am writing from Kolkata. I am liking your journal very much. I would like to know if you accept English translations of poetry originally written in Indian regional languages, say Bangla.
